It will be tough to ever see real change in our country because nobody is willing to have an open conversation. It feels like nobody is listening to UNDERSTAND another point of view…they’re only listening to RESPOND.

My thoughts were proven over the weekend.

I shared my support for the “March for Our Lives” rallies across the country and you would have thought I was Satan standing in the middle of the road surrounded by flames with a pitchfork.

Children are afraid to go to school.

They want someone to listen to them.

They want someone to protect them.

They want something done so they’re not worried about using books and desks as bullet proof vests.

I want ALL CHILDREN TO FEEL SAFE AT SCHOOL.

Every single one.

That does not make me anti-gun.

In fact, I believe in every person’s RIGHT to bear arms.  I believe in every person’s RIGHT to protect themselves.

The problem is this: there is not ONE SOLUTION.  It’s like an onion…you peel away a layer…and there’s another layer…and another.

But I do know we all need to put our big girl and big boy pants on…check our egos at the door…roll up our sleeves and have a candid conversation.

We’ve complained about every generation after our own (I know I have) Well this generation…Generation Z…they’re different. They’re something we haven’t seen before. They take action…they want to be heard. They made that very clear over the weekend.  So when they want their voices heard, how about we stop posting memes with their pictures calling them sissies and “soft.” These kids who are getting called names just watched 17 of their classmates/teachers get gunned down.

How about we just listen to learn where they’re coming from?

Imagine the change we could see if we took our life experience and their passion?

OUR KIDS ARE AFRAID TO GO TO SCHOOL.

If we don’t listen…who will?
